About Dr. Barbara Gronsky

I am a licensed counseling psychologist with specialized expertise in Career Development and Work Effectiveness issues. For the past twenty years, I have assisted individuals from late adolescence through retirement to successfully: identify realistic career paths where they will be likely to find success and fulfillment; manage their careers to maximize possibilities for advancement or to reach other personal goals; gain skills to enhance performance, success and satisfaction at work and; overcome aspects of their personality/style that interfere with their ability to achieve their career aspirations.
My passion for “career psychology” is rooted in my own personal background as the eldest child of Holocaust survivors and as a first generation American. While successful in building a comfortable life and creating better opportunities for their children, my parents were thwarted from being able to make full use of their talents. I considered myself very fortunate to have grown up in an era offering so many educational and career options and realized what a gift it is to be able to select a path that meets many other needs besides simply paying bills. Given how much of our lives are spent at work, I wanted to help others achieve as much fulfillment and success in their careers as possible.
I established my career-focused private practice, Delaware Valley Career Solutions, in 1993, with offices in Yardley & Philadelphia, PA and Princeton, NJ.
Besides working with the public, other career-oriented projects include:
As an independent corporate consultant, I also deliver career development, outplacement, leadership development and executive coaching services to managers and executives of large and small corporations, as well as nonprofit organizations, primarily in the pharmaceutical, chemical and insurance industries. Over the past twenty years I have provided executive coaching to over 400 executives, managers and high potential employees to maximize emotional competence, influence and communication skills, political/organizational savvy, leadership impact, and efficient use of time and other resources. Organizations have hired me to help managers and executives explore and map out “best-fit” career paths, and to deliver outplacement services when a more personalized approach is desired.
Representative client organizations include: Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, BTG International, Inc., Siemens Medical Solutions, Endo Pharmaceuticals, ImClone Systems, Revlon, Dow Chemical Company, FMC Corporation, Air Products Corporation, Marsh USA, Conner Strong & Buckelew, Aramark, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Haverford Friends School and Princeton Community Church.
Before establishing Delaware Valley Career Solutions, I worked for seven years for several prominent human resources and career management consulting firms, delivering career transition (outplacement), stress management, executive coaching, and assessment services. I began my career creating and managing a national employee assistance program for several divisions of General Electric.
I am proud to be a “preferred provider” career management professional for alumni of the Wharton School of Business and an executive coach for first year MBA students at Wharton. In addition, I recently became certified in Career Coaching and Executive/Corporate/Business Coaching.
My career continues to be a source of great satisfaction and I feel blessed to still look forward to going to work every day. My goal is to help as many others find fulfillment and success in their careers as possible.
